ALVA inc meeting minutes 11/18/04

The meeting was called to order by president, Rob Andrys.  It was decided that there will not be a December meeting due to the holidays.  Laura Davis represented Alva at the blueways/greenways meeting on Oct 27.  Lee county plans to finalize before Christmas a map which will include future bikepaths and canoe/kayak paths throughout the county.    Alva hopes to get a path from the school to the Caloosahatcheee Park and also  one to the new Greenbriar park which will connect to Hickeys crk park.  There has also been an effort to get sidewalks from the Community Park to the school but  the County does not own all the easements along this route.  Many attendees are concerned about the dangers at the intersections of SR 80 and Broadway and Joel Blvd.  There is a website named Leetraffic.com where citizens can request a traffic light at particular intersections.  Residents are encouraged to visit this site. Oak park residents may start a petition to encourage the DOT to install traffic lights.  The upcoming Dec 4th Holiday party at the

Wayside Park was discussed.  The celebration will be from 4 pm to 7 pm and will include a tree lighting ceremony.  Bring a covered dish to share and lawn chairs.  A representative of the Bayshore civic group was present at the meeting.  They would like to have a joint fundraiser with ALVA inc, perhaps a rodeo.  The Bayshore group has a website called www.bayshorebackyard.com.  A link from our website, alvafl.org, to their site will be established.
